After a remarkable international symposium held for the first time in Turkey, called Modern Era and Ibn Arabi, Turkish Women’s Cultural Association (TURKKAD), Istanbul Branch is now happy to organize another international symposium on Hadrat Shams-i Tabrizi.
The international Shams Symposium: Enlightened by the Sun will be held in Istanbul on 11-13 December and in Konya on 14-16 December, 2009. Scholars from Turkey, Pakistan, USA, Iran and Japan will give presentations during the symposium. The language of the sessions will be in both Turkish and English.
The main purpose of this symposium is to inform greater audience about the real meaning of Shams-i Tabrizi, who is best known as Rumi’s teacher. Humanity benefits a great deal from his unifying attribute and we all believe in the great benefit of getting to know more about him and trying to perceive him.
